The National Council of Jewish Women of Canada – Vancouver Section is inspired by the ethical values of Judaism and dedicated to advancing human welfare within both the Jewish and broader community — locally, nationally, and internationally. Through an integrated approach that combines education, advocacy, direct service, and social action, NCJWC Vancouver works to create meaningful and lasting impact.

For over a century, our section has been a strong and compassionate voice for women, children, families, and vulnerable populations. In November 2024, we proudly celebrated our 100th anniversary, marking a century of leadership, service, and social advocacy in Vancouver.

Past achievements include:

  • Leadership in developing and supporting the HIPPY Canada (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) program locally, strengthening early childhood education and empowering parents as their children’s first teachers
  • Raising significant funds for community and international causes, including support for Aluma – Israel Family Counselling Association
  • Longstanding early literacy initiatives such as our Books for Kids program, providing books to schools and community organizations
  • Advocacy efforts supporting women’s rights, social justice, and public policy engagement
  • Educational forums and community events addressing pressing social issues

Currently, Vancouver is involved in the following programs and initiatives:

  • An annual International Women’s Day event that brings the community together to celebrate women’s achievements and highlight ongoing challenges
  • Food security programs supporting children and families, helping ensure access to nutritious meals and essential supplies
  • Literacy and educational support initiatives
  • Community outreach programs assisting seniors, families, and newcomers
  • Active engagement in political awareness, social justice advocacy, and public education
  • Programs and events designed to strengthen community connection and civic involvement

At NCJWC Vancouver, we are committed not only to service, but to empowering our community through engagement, education, and advocacy. We continue to work diligently to foster awareness, address pressing social needs, and build a more just and compassionate society.
